Naomi Lulendo: Navigating Incompleteness & Pluri-Identity at Mariane Ibrahim

The world of Naomi Lulendo (b.1994) is one where artworks and materials are not an end in themselves, but the outcome of a process, a pretext for exploring an idea, developing a thought, or giving form to a concept. Moving freely between painting, textile, mixed media and performance, Lulendo embraces an unorthodox way of thinking and making. This plurality echoes her own experience of identity: rooted in both the West Indies and Congo, and shaped by the singular experience of being a twin. Her practice becomes a space for navigating these multiple origins, influences and ways of being — not to resolve them into something uniform, but to bring different roots together in the expression of a unique identity.
